That's hello in pig, cow, chicken and turkey! Christiansen's Family Farm is a small family owned farm. We are nestled close to the Sheeprock Mountains in Vernon, Utah. Vernon is a quaint little town of 220 people. Most folks in Vernon raise cattle and alfalfa. Our family consists of Christian and Hollie and our two sons Hans (age 6) and Dane (age 4) and our daughter Shia who was born in June 2009. Our farm is truly a family farm. As a family we genuinely enjoy raising animals. Our boys love going out to feed the pigs as is evident in the lightning speed in which they can slip on their mud boots and Carhartt jackets. Hollie and I go on “little pig dates” where we hold hands and walk out to the pigs to check on them. It is very therapeutic to lean against a fence post and just watch the pigs and cows grazing and chickens scratching and pecking. We thank you for your interest in Christiansen’s Family Farm and are pleased offer humanely treated, pasture raised, all natural, Berkshire pork, Grass Fed Beef, and pastured poultry from our sustainable farm to your table.

Christian - Christian's full name is Hans Christian Christiansen. He is actually the fourth Hans Christian Christiansen with his son Hans being the fifth generation to share the name. Christian was born in Copenhagen, Denmark and moved to the United States when he was 6 years old. He grew up primarily in Broomfield, Colorado. He is the oldest of 9 children. After marrying Hollie in 2001, Christian attended BYU-Idaho in Rexburg, Idaho where he received a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Science. Christian's passion for agriculture became apparent when he completed his degree in just 2.5 years time and graduated at the top of his class. Upon graduating, the agricultural job market was bleak and Christian instead turned his focus on a career in business management. He is currently employed as a business manager for the Department of Defense and works at Dugway Proving Ground.
Hollie - Hollie grew up on a small apple farm in Lehi, Utah. She is the second youngest of eight children. Hollie was active in all aspects of their family farm and was known as the family's best apple salesperson at their roadside stands. Hollie was active in sports and was a star on her high school soccer team. She later attended Ricks College (now BYU-Idaho) where she continued to play soccer on the college team. Hollie earned a degree in business management which has been a great asset to Christiansen's Family Farm. Hollie's determination to see the farm succeed was highlighted in 2009 when she helped a struggling sow deliver 10 piglets. This included reaching in and pulling four piglets after the sow grew too exhausted to push. Amazingly, she accomplished this while being 8 months pregnant!
Hans - As stated above, Hans is the fifth generation to carry the family name. Hans enjoys working on the farm. He is currently in kindergarten and enjoys learning. Hans is very interested in all things science especially animals and astronomy. When weighing and sorting pigs, Hans is responsible for operating the scale. He opens the entrance and exit doors on the scale. Hans is also learning to catch chickens. Hans is a huge asset on the farm.
Dane - Dane enjoys learning at home and is a very hard worker. He often offers his help when his parents are out taking care of farm chores. Like his brother, Dane enjoys learning about animals and science. Dane helps on the farm by helping newly arrived chicks get oriented in the brooder. This includes dipping each chick's beak in water so that the chick knows where the water is located. Dane also helps shoo pigs into the appropriate sorting pens or trailer. Although he weighs around 40 lbs, he maintains control of pigs approaching 300 lbs.
Shia - Shia is 1 year old. She is fascinated by the animals and already shows a love for them. She plays in the yard while the rest of the family works.
