Our family has been making these chocolate chip cookies for many years now. They are pretty darn good! Almost everyone who tastes them loves them and requests the recipe.

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. In a large bowl or mixer, cream together butter and sugars. Beat in the egg, then stir in the vanilla. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir dry ingredients into creamed butter and sugar. Add chocolate chips, and nuts if desired.
  3. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes in the preheated oven.
